Edscape Homepage FAQ sectionDME’s EdScape Beta FAQ’sWhat is EdScape Beta?EdScape Beta, short for “education landscape,” provides information critical to making decisions about whether, where, and what type of public schools, school facilities, and school programs are needed in Washington, DC. This new set of information from the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Education (DME) is intended for policymakers, school leaders, and the public. This information will support data transparency and building a coherent public education system. What is new on EdScape Beta?As of December 2019, EdScape Beta incorporates school quality in the Public Schools, Public School Facilities, and Enrollment Patterns chapters. View and filter by DC’s school accountability system, the STAR Framework. In addition, some visualizations now have the option to toggle school points on maps. Learn more about recent updates to EdScape Beta on the Release Notes page. Who will use EdScape Beta?DCPS, the DC Public Charter School Board (DC PCSB), school leaders, and District agencies will rely on this to decide on the opening and siting of schools and programs. Advocacy groups will be interested in this and will use the information for their own analyses. This is not intended for the “everyday” parent making school enrollment decisions.
