Where English Learner Public School Students Live

Users can select three different geographies (planning areas, neighborhood clusters, and 2022 wards) to view where students identified as English learners live. English learners are concentrated in three planning areas: Rock Creek East, Mid-City, and Upper Northeast. In addition to these three planning areas, the Near Northwest planning area also has above average shares of English learners.

By neighborhood cluster, English learner students are concentrated in the following neighborhood clusters: Brightwood Park, Crestwood, and Petworth (Cluster 18); Columbia Heights and Mt Pleasant (Cluster 2); Takoma and Brightwood (Cluster 17); and Lamont Riggs and Fort Totten (Cluster 19). The same neighborood clusters have large shares of English learner students as a porportion of all eligible public school students living in the cluster as well. Other neighborhood clusters with above average proportions of English learner students include Shaw/Logan Circle (Cluster 7) and Kalorama Heights and Adams Morgan (Cluster 1).
