After decades of decline, Washington, DC’s population started increasing after 2000. Between 2000 and 2010, the District grew by almost 30,000 residents. Between 2010 and 2020, the latest Census counts show that the District added another almost 88,000 people reaching 689,545 residents. The latest Census estimate has the District's population decreasing to 670,050 residents.
