The largest enrollment growth between SY2008-09 and SY2024-25 was in prekindergarten grades (PK3 and PK4) and elementary grades (K to 5), at 4,911 students and 11,812 students, respectively. The category including adult schools, alternative schools, and special education schools (those exclusively serving students with special education needs) also had significant growth, driven mainly by an increase in adult school enrollment. The number of middle school students (6-8) and high school students (9 to 12) grew the least compared to the other grade levels but still it increased by 4,184 students and 3,086 students, respectively. These secondary grade increases occurred mainly at public charter middle and high schools.
