The same neighborood clusters have large shares of English learner students enrolled as a porportion of total school enrollment in the cluster as well including Kalorama Heights and Adams Morgan (Cluster 1). Public School English Learner Enrollment by Neighborhood Cluster, SY13-14 to SY22-23

Since SY13-14, approximately 4,200 additional students have been identified as English learners, a 59% increase compared to the 17% growth in total enrollment of students under the age of 22. The noticeable increase in SY17-18 was due to a national revision to the assessment test. In SY21-22, the second full school year affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, English learner enrollment increased by over 700 students compared to the previous school year. In SY22-23, English learners increased by only 45 more students compared to the year before.
